Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys basketball had an exceptionally good season, going deep into the playoffs. They placed first in the Frontier league with a record of 6-2 and an overall record of 16-14. Team captains, John Cassidy ‘24 and Daniel Ferrer ‘24 led the team to the California Scholastic Federation (CIF) quarter finals in Big Bear, where they finished off their season strong.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys basketball team did not disappoint this year, as they got to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) quarterfinals through their hard work and tenacity. Unfortunately, their season ended in the CIF quarterfinals against Big Bear High School despite giving it their all.

Head coach, Jamaal Brown spoke on their best game, “We really came together during the playoffs and most specifically in our second-round playoff game against Serano [High School]. We held them to 43 points which is 30 points under their average scoring.”

The top scorer was Ashton Brown ‘26 who averaged 17 points per game. He also led in rebounding, which earned him first-team all-CIF for the Division four southern section.

Coach Brown reflected on the team with the use of one word, “Resilient. Even when they were playing over their heads, I still knew that they were always playing and giving it their most.”

The team’s only seniors were John Cassidy ‘24 and Daniel Ferrer ‘24, so the team has a bright future ahead with many young players that have experienced varsity level basketball, ready to compete in future seasons.

Cassidy commented on his feelings towards his last senior season, “I’m sad it’s over but it was a really great season to end on.”
