It is common to say that a performance is “electrifying,” but seeing the Foothill quad welcome rapper Stormakastorm after two years of anticipation, the word characterizes the mood well.
“The floor is lava!” Storm began, getting everyone to their feet and up onto tables. The performance was filled with audience interaction and backflips, making it hard for students to tear their eyes away from the spectacle.
This isn’t the rapper’s first time at Foothill – he visited two years ago through High School Nation’s programs. Recalling that performance, Matthew O’Connor ‘17 reached out to Storm and with the help of Foothill’s Associated Student Body (ASB) and High School Nation, organized the show for the seniors’ last day of school. This time, Storm appeared with Dupree Welcome.

Simply said, the lunchtime show was a hit.
During one song, Ethan Ambler ‘17 – known around Foothill for his impressive dancing – leapt onto the stage and began an impromptu dance battle. Later on, in a special “free verse Friday” performance, Storm rapped about Foothill and the seniors graduating. A crowd gathered around the front of the stage and began dancing around.
Storm said that although he got several requests, the one he paid special attention to was for the song “Outerspace.” The crowd cheered when the song began, knowing exactly what was coming up next. Andrew Shoup ‘18 even got on stage with them and started rapping along.
Armed with yearbooks, students swarmed Storm and Dupree when the show was over, asking them for autographs. However, signatures weren’t limited to just the books. “Imma sign your, uh, everything,” Storm said.
Fernando Martinez ‘20 thought this was the perfect end to his freshman year. “He did a lot with the audience. I gave him a high five and a handshake and then we started dancing a bit,” Martinez said. “I was like ‘yeahhh!’”

Storm and Dupree enjoyed the performance as much as the audience enjoyed watching it.
“The fact that you guys even had us in mind was the best thing ever. It’s a big, big deal for Storm, and just bringing him back and him getting to express his talent is beyond words,” Dupree said.
Any advice for Foothill students and graduating seniors? “Dream with your eyes open,” Storm said. Both the performers said they would love to visit Foothill again in the future.
