Seniors roamed through the halls of Foothill to celebrate their last days of high school at the annual Senior Barbecue last Friday. The event was planned and coordinated by the Associated Student Body (ASB), but was set up by Foothill’s Honor Court.
“We’ve been preparing for Senior Barbecue since the beginning of the year. Getting all of the donations from the seniors, making sure everything was perfect before ordering the food,” said ASB senior Daisy Myring.
The event was designed to be a final celebration for the seniors before graduation. Seniors walking into the event were welcomed by a jolly jumper. Along with the “fun slide,” seniors were able to play volleyball and cornhole.
Senior Alex Beamer described graduating saying, “I feel like we’re all entering the meat grinder that is the rest of the world that this fragile existence has put us into.”
Another senior, Ben Oliver, said that graduation is “a scary thing.”
“Everyone that you know, that you see every day you might not see ever again. It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I feel like it’s really going to hit me hard a grad night,” Oliver continued.
After an hour of conversation and games, the seniors lined up for dinner. The night finished off with the filling of the Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is the box where Seniors fill it with notes, letter, and memorabilia among other things which will be taped shut and opened at the Class of 2016’s 10 year anniversary.
“I’m really excited to see where everyone else is going to end up and how they are going to do. I can’t wait for our reunion,” concluded senior Karina Cole.
