Bella Bobrow, an involved tenth grader, is a second-year news staffer on the Dragon Press. She is Russian and has embraced that part of herself by joining Russian Scouts. This organization helps her to connect with others in the Russian community and to make connections with Russian youth all over California, including friends from Northern California. At the moment she is trying to learn Russian in addition to the languages she already speaks: English and Spanish. Enrolled in Advanced Placement AP Art zero period, Bella loves to express the artistic side of herself. Instead of looking to older artists, she prefers to experience art and find it everywhere she can. She questions why the world appears to have more respect for people like Picasso rather than graffiti artists who put just as much thought and time into their work. Bella is involved in Youth and Government, a mock legislature and court program that stands as one of the largest programs in California with over three thousand students involved. These students draft bills which, if passed, are sent to the governor of California. As a freshman, Bella acted as part of the animal rights committee, helping to draft a bill promoting animal treatment conditions in the movie industry. The bill ended up passing. She is very passionate about animal rights, identifying as a vegan for over a year.
