Strawberry Banana Smoothie - 4.5/5

This smooth, well-blended drink had just the perfect amount of velvety thickness. Tangy and dominated by the strawberry flavor, there were slight hints of banana that only became apparent after the first few sips. Whipped cream was added, complementing the vaguely sour taste. Overall, this drink was worth it, and not overwhelmingly sweet like some of Makenna’s other drinks.

Kona Cloud Chai - 5/5

Makenna’s Kona Cloud Chai is one of the best chai lattes I have ever tasted. The flavor was incredibly strong, and the “clouds” blanketing the top of the Maui Milk base was dense and sweet. It was served at just the perfect, sippable temperature. Creamy and addicting, the Kona Cloud Chai truly lives up to its name.
The Maui Latte, overwhelmingly sweet, would be a great option for those with a sweet tooth. It can be ordered with any ratio of Maui Milk to coffee listed on the menu. (Kalea Eggertsen)

Maui Latte - 2/5

The Maui Latte was a little less enjoyable than the other drinks. The sweetness was overpowering because I forgot to order it with less Maui Milk than the default – which was decidedly way too much. The coffee flavor was a little more subtle than I would have liked, due to the seemingly larger ratio of sweetened milk than coffee. If you are not a fan of sugary coffee, consider the amount of Maui Milk added when choosing a drink option so you don’t make the same mistake.
Makenna’s Hawaiian Honey drink is a great option for people who love tropical flavors. With a thinner, coconutty milk base and healthy amount of foam on top, it is mildly sweetened and serves as the perfect option for any occasion. (Kalea Eggertsen)

The first thing I noticed about this drink was that it was very mild — especially compared to the Maui Latte. It was slightly sweetened, and had a much stronger coffee flavor with a coconut aftertaste, along with a somewhat watery texture. It is a great option for those who love more refreshing coffees with tropical flavors, and aren’t so big on thicker drinks.
For all those who love lemon in baked goods, the Lemon Bread does not disappoint. Moist and fluffy, it can be ordered slightly warmed or at room temperature. The small drizzle of hardened frosting on the crust adds a great amount of crunch to the otherwise soft bread. (Kalea Eggertsen)

Lemon Bread - 4/5

After ordering just one, I received two slices instead, one slightly warmed. It was one of the best accidents ever, because this bread was amazing. The mouth-watering buttery, citrusy smell made it impossible not to immediately dig in. The center was perfectly moist, and the outside wasn’t dry like most baked goods. With just the right amount of tang accompanied by crusty sugar from the light drizzle of frosting, the lemon bread is a solid option.
