After twilight finally set on Friday, Oct. 17, Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) Halloween dance commenced in the quad. At 7 p.m., students gathered around the stage in their best costumes as the bass boomed and lights flashed to the DJ’s music to celebrate the spooky festivities.
The theme of this year’s Halloween dance was based on “Twilight,” the popular movie and book series. The werewolf and vampire concept, advertised by the Associated Student Body (ASB) in the days leading up to the event, raised the energy and hype across campus. Some students even took the chance to match their costumes to the theme to show off their Halloween and school spirit.
As the night progressed, the music grew louder and the crowd around the stage expanded as more students began to join the circle. Different genres of songs were played during the duration of the event so that students could dance along with their friends to their favorite tracks throughout the night
“This is the first Halloween dance I’ve been to, but my favorite part so far has been dancing in the pit and just being with my friends,” Logan McClary ‘27 said.
A table for refreshments was also present, serving chocolate-covered pudding with gummy worms and water, for students who needed a moment away from the commotion.
Located along the edges of the quad were other activities, such as ping pong and various video games, as well as a photobooth to capture the night’s memories with friends.
A change from last year’s dance was a rule against bringing guests from outside Foothill Tech. In contrast to the previous year, when students were allowed to bring a guest from another school to the dance, this year’s event was strictly for Foothill Tech students only.
“I think it’s pretty unfortunate. I really wish I could have brought someone, but I understand,” Ayla Reynolds ‘26 said.
As the dance drew to a close, the DJ wrapped up his final songs with a wish of luck to Foothill Tech’s senior class, and students drifted off with their friends. While their costumes had disguised them as someone else for the night, students left with memories of a night to remember.
