The season of Foothill Tech’s girls volleyball team is in full swing, marked by three back-to-back matches on Sept. 23, 25 and 26. The Dragons defended their home court at Cabrillo Middle School in the first two games, while the third found them on foreign ground at Santa Paula High School. Read on for a recap on the Dragons’ home games from this action-packed week.

On the evening of Sept. 25, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls volleyball team set to face off against Dunn High School (Dunn) in league play. Foothill Tech easily swept Dunn in a 3-0 victory. The game was the second out of their three games in the week. With the win, the Dragons moved to a 3-1 league record.

Setting the Tone
On the night of Sept. 11, 2025 the Foothill Tech Dragons circled up together before their first league game. With the crowd cheering for the Dragons, they brought high intensity and energy no matter the circumstances during the game. However the Dragons lost in four sets.

Jumping tremendously high in the air to quickly spike the ball over the net and pass the other teams heads, is number one, Samantha Jacobson ‘26. Jacobson was an essential player for this game, reaching, diving, jumping and pushing herself to her pull potential to leave out on the court. The team's next game is on Sept. 2, 2025 against Nordhoff Junior High & High School (Nordhoff) where the team will again give their maximum effort.

Despite this initial victory, the Dragons ultimately lost to Buena.

The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls' volleyball team ended the 2024 to 2025 season with a 0-8 league standing, placing them at 5th in the Tri-Valley League. Overall, the Dragons ended up 3-10, but despite this record, the team displayed continual improvement and effort throughout the season.

Dinkler is not new to Foothill Tech as he previously taught English and was the head coach for cross country and track and field. His passion for sports and his dedication to Foothill Tech's athletes excites him for what impact he can make in the future.

Along with this, tables were set up to showcase the many different pathways and opportunities that are offered at Foothill Tech.

On the night of Sept. 20, over 18,000 runners and 50,000 spectators converged from 22 states on Great Park for the 44 running of the Asics Woodbridge Invitational. The Foothill Tech boys raced the Rated race, one of the fastest heats of boys cross country runners in the country.

Caitlin Clark, the emerging basketball star known for her exceptional scoring ability and leadership on the court, found herself in the center of a heated debate after not receiving the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for the 2024 season. Instead, the award went to A’ja Wilson, a two-time MVP whose formidable performance helped lead the Las Vegas Aces to another memorable season. Although Wilson’s consistent excellence and defensive prowess made her a deserving recipient, many fans and analysts contended that Clark’s record-breaking numbers, game-winning moments and ability to carry her team to success warranted the honor.

The 2024 to 2025 season went well for the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys tennis team, going 4-1 in the Tri-Valley League, resulting in a 3rd place positioning. In the overall season, the Dragons went 6-2, showing the extent of the talent and dedication of the boy's tennis team.

The 2024 to 2025 season for the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys' basketball team went extremely, with a record of 7-2 in the Tri-Valley League, placing them at 2nd overall. For the general season, the Dragons achieved a record of 16-15, which allowed them to advance to the California Scholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Championship game, which they unfortunately lost to La Puente High School (La Puente) 70-63. Despite the loss, the Dragons still displayed incredible talent and effort throughout the 2024 to 2025 season.

The 2024 to 2025 season was incredibly successful for Foothill Technology High School's (Foothill Tech) swim and dive team, with numerous athletes making new personal bests at nearly every event. All of these athletes secured their own personal bests in varying events, highlighting the variety of Foothill Tech's success. The Foothill Tech swim and dive team recieved various accolades throughout the duration of the 2024 to 2025 season, performing well at the Ventura County Swimming Championships and the Tri-Valley League Meet, both of which are hallmarks of the Dragons swim season.
