On Nov. 16, 2025, Foothill Technology High School’s (Foothill Tech) class of 2026 collectively made their way to the front of the school, and typical school life shifted into a day of bonding as the seniors took their class picture and enjoyed a catered lunch at the annual senior picnic. After the class portrait, students filed into two lines to collect free sandwiches from Urbane Cafe. The event was organized by the Associated Student Body (ASB), which also designated half of the quad as a senior-only area throughout the lunch period.
This event marks the second official senior class-oriented event, and much of this is due to ASB’s dedication to each year’s graduating class. ASB member JJ Mendez ‘27 said, “[In ASB], once you get in freshman year, your whole goal is to fundraise … so you can spend all of that money and have an amazing senior year,” which Parks Riley ‘27 explained was because, “[Senior year is] the most important year and you want to make it the most memorable and most fun.”

ASB’s efforts didn’t fall short in the minds of many seniors. Lailah Davis ‘26 said “I think … bringing cool events like this can help bring a class together because it gives everyone a common, single thing to look forward to … Everyone gets to kind of bond.”
Drayden Belitski ‘26 expressed that the event held “a little bit of nostalgia. Just … remembering freshman year … meeting some of these kids who I’ve formed pretty good friendships with over the past four years. It does really put that into perspective.” Gibson MacDougall ‘26 stated, “When I was a freshman I saw all these things, it really goes to show how the years have passed … [But ASB] is celebrating us this year so I like how they’re doing this.”
Saul Toledo ‘26, addressing many’s complaints, said, “One major complaint I want to say is that this line is taking a little too long [and] they could have done In-n-Out or Chick-fil-A …Why do they cheap out on this year?” Contrasting this, Belitski said “I feel [ASB] handled themselves with the two lines,” and Riley stated, “A lot of people forget when we don’t have stuff … that it’s expensive … especially with the senior class as they are doing so many things throughout the year.”
Despite varying opinions on the smoothness of the event, ASB considered it a successful event. Naomi Schwartz ‘26, ASB Senior Class President, said, “We try our best to cater to everyone’s needs. Of course, not everything can be perfect … [but] I feel like the connection is starting to build back up as we get further into the school year.” ASB continues to look forward to future events and hopes to demonstrate their dedication to Foothill Tech’s senior class.
