As textbooks are checked back in and finals season rears it head with the close of the 2024-2025 school year, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) also prepares to say goodbye to its senior class. On May 28, 2025, Foothill Tech organized its yearly Senior Awards Night at Buena High School’s (BHS) gymnasium for the class of 2025 as they prepared for graduation.
The awards ceremony honored the students passing from high school onward. Scholarships and awards were also given to the seniors, from large collectives of students to individual awards, to recognize some notable students’ qualities and prowess.
The start of the 2025 Senior Awards Night were the granting of scholarships, with awards such as the Ventura Sunrise Optimist Club “We Believe in You Scholarship!” presented by Dr. Jennifer Robles, the Titus Trust Scholarship for Creative Writing being, awarded by Jim Titus Ken Leandro of the Rotary Club of Ventura Perspectives on Peace Scholarships and many more. Scholarships were handed out to varying numbers of groups, either in multiple students or just one to two.
Following the scholarships were the Recognition Awards, which awarded students whose involvement in not only the school, but also the community was recognized. Foothill Tech programs such as DTech and AVID awarded students who participated in the program with individual awards for their outstanding achievements in the class.
The award section of the banquet also included the Athletics Wall of Fame where Jamal Brown, athletic director for Foothill Tech, presented individual awards to students who showed exceptional skill and work ethic towards their sport. Brown also bestowed A – G completion awards and “Parent of the Year” awards to parents of students who had shown their support through their contributions to Foothill Tech.

Finally came the Dragon Hall of Fame Awards where teachers would choose a student they recognized as exemplary in their class because of their intelligence, work ethic and character. The programs that gave out the awards were Renaissance Social Science, Science, Social Science, Computer Science, Renaissance Science, BioScience, DTech and Journalism.
Additional school service awards were handed out, some which were regarding specific pathways and others that were strictly academic related. Some of these awards included Yearbook Visual Arts, Mathematics Renaissance, Mathematics, Renaissance English, English, Performing Arts, AVID, Community Service, ASB, Most Inspirational and the Dana Eaton Award.
At the end of this decorated event, Katherine Tedford, assistant principal of Foothill Tech said, “It’s always a pleasure to recognize our students and their amazing achievements. There were a lot of diverse achievements celebrated tonight, and it was a joy.” As the curtains fall on their high school journey, senior award winners left behind a legacy of excellence, inspiring the next generation to aim higher and dream bigger.
