The distant ocean breeze hung over the court as the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls beach volleyball team faced off in an intense duel against rival team, Santa Clara High School (Santa Clara), on Feb. 25, 2025, at the Dragon’s home court. Foothill Tech wouldn’t have much contest taking down the win, concluding the game 5-0 to continue a three-game win streak for the season.
Morgan Huston ‘25 and Samantha Jacobson ‘26 took the first line and easily cleared through Santa Clara’s best efforts in a 21-1 gentlemen’s sweep to lock up the first set and solidify the Dragon’s dominant play style as the matches advanced. The second set would continue this dominance, with another 21-1 victory over the Bruins to lock up an easy point for the Dragons.
Jacobson commented on her and her teammate’s strong performance and what she looked ahead to moving forward into the season, stating, “We really dominated on the court, I really felt some good team chemistry from everyone, and I’m definitely looking forward to a great season.”

Line two had Rylie Hannah ‘26 and Aliana Hangin ‘25, who would easily take down the first set in another strong 21-4 win, giving Santa Clara little opportunity to respond.
However, the second set would prove to be closer, with Santa Clara attempting to mount a comeback late in the set, but it would be too little too late as the Dragons would secure another point with a set win of 21-14, bringing the game score to 2-0.
The third line found little resistance from the rivaling team, with Emily Turner ‘26 as well as Jaelisa Lozano-Rivera ‘26 on the court. The duo would make quick work of Santa Clara, putting the match away with two impressive sets, 21-7 and 21-6.

With the score at 3-0, the Dragons knew the final two lines would be essential for putting the game away and furthering their position in the season. With Peyton Fox ‘27 and Lilac Reyes ‘26 up for the fourth duel, the match would wrap up quickly as the Dragons continued to shut down Santa Clara in their first set, 21-4. Subsequently, another win with a strong 21-14 finish for Foothill Tech followed.
The final matchup would play out no differently from the previous lines, with Sydneu Friedl ‘28 and Wila Meza ‘27 easily breezing through both sets with a 21-4 win in the first and a 21-6 game win in the second to shut out Santa Clara for a final score of 5-0.
With the Dragon’s clean record for the season, they hope to continue their momentum into their next game on Feb. 28, 2025 against Buena High School (Buena).
