On Jan. 14 and 15, 2025, Betty Belts hosted their annual Closet Clean Out Sale. The event was from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with only ten people allowed in the salesroom at once. Betty Belts throws this sale once a year so shoppers can buy items at a discounted rate. The event also helped those affected by the recent Los Angeles area fires, raising $7537 towards the cause.
Shayla Magdaleno, an employee at the store said, “We went through our whole stock and inventory and chose out items that were candidates for the sale, then we brought it back and discounted it and put it out in trays and put it on display.”

The event took place when there were enough products to sell, with Magdaleno saying, “It was a good time for a sale.” A few employees from Betty Belts help make this happen each year by choosing specific pieces and discounting them. Due to a limited amount of items, each person let in the store was only allotted ten minutes, and each item bought was on final sale.
The event took place in their salesroom, also known as their Ocean Room, where everything was placed on a large table in the middle and one small table on the side of the room. To get into the sale, people had to wait outside until it was their turn, which was switched every ten minutes, so everyone got a turn to go in and check out the products.
Autumn Belcher, a customer from the sale said, “I think it was really cute and it was really good because there are so many people [affected by the fires] who are in desperate need of anything right now.”
People who attended the sale were excited about it for multiple reasons. It was a great way to get more pieces from Betty Belts without spending too much or getting a lot of pieces for a great price. Another significant reason was that a portion of the sales supported those involved in the fire, which was seen as a great way to help Ventura’s Community and surrounding areas.
Betty Belts Closet Clean Out Sale was a great event for the community of Ventura, bringing people together to share the same interests and helping fire victims along the way.
