Amidst the pre-finals week tension lingering in the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) halls, therapy dogs from “Love on a Leash” were brought on campus on Jan. 19, 2024 to uplift students’ spirits and provide comfort as they begin to navigate their way into the upcoming week of final exams. Therapy animals offer stress relief, improve moods and provide comfort to enhance emotional well-being in diverse settings.

As the league seasons come to a close, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) had multiple teams advance into California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section playoffs. During the week of Feb. 11 to Feb. 14, 2025, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) celebrated Kindness Week, organized by the Associated Student Body (ASB). This annual event aimed to promote positivity and strengthen the school community through various activities. Throughout the week, students participated in dress-up days and several events, including making candy grams, creating bracelets and playing a game of musical chairs.

The Grammy 2025 recap! The Grammy is a top tier award given to all sorts of different music artists various different genres. It is not only sought after as an award, but as an experience. The Grammys feature live music, with some of this year's live performances including guest artists such as, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and Charlie XCX.

On the night of Feb.13, 2023 Foothill Technology (Foothill Tech) Bioscience Academy hosted their annual Entree to Employment event where the juniors and seniors held conversations, mock interviews and ate dinner with science and medical professionals. This event is one of the many that the academy offers its students, giving them the experience and the ability to gain insight on professional careers they may want to pursue. This event is catered by the sophomores of the academy (Cohort 21) and the director Mika Anderson, along with instructor Daniel Baker.

On Feb. 8, 2025, the Ventura Downtown Lions Club ran the annual Bowl To Strike Out Cancer fundraiser at Buena Lanes. This year's fundraiser was the largest in its 17-year history, raising $9,000 from the nearly 200 attendees' purchase of day passes, raffles and engagement in silent auctions and donations. This money went to local services that support cancer survivors and patients in the Ventura area, including the Ronald McDonald Family Room and the City of Hope.

Ventura High School (VHS) students, as well as many others across Ventura County, walked out on Jan. 31, 2025 in protest of the new executive orders from President Trump. The mural of Dolores Huerta on the side of the Main St. Gym at VHS is a symbol of Latinx pride and advocacy. By standing up for their rights, many VHS students honor Huerta's name.

On Feb. 4, 2025, the Board of Education met to deliberate and discuss Resolution #25-02, a plan to reduce and discontinue classified service positions, as a result of major budget cuts in the district. Drained one-time federal and state funds, learning loss, current and ongoing enrollment decline and maintenance of competitive salaries for staff are all elements that have impacted the recent cuts, as explained by Superintendent Dr. Antonio Castro in a message to VUSD families on Jan. 30, 2025, on VUSD's website.

Here at Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) students have officially finished with the first semester of the 2024-25 school year, meaning that freshmen at Foothill Tech have completed one eighth of their high school career. Moving up from middle school is a pretty dramatic change to the pressure and expectations of high school. From fun fridays and low expectation classes, to the dreaded AP test and SAT prep soon to come, the bar has been raised. Along with the difficulty of education being raised, so are the challenges of a student's social life. Through this time many friendships go through ups and downs, and people change, it is a part of the high school experience. At this time the new freshmen are going through all of these changes emotionally and physically.

Once customers entered the sale room, they were greeted with one large table in the middle and another small table to the side. Both tables had much to offer including various types of goods such as rings and necklaces, pendants, etc.

For years, U.S. officials and lawmakers have issued warnings about the potential threat that the massively popular social media app, TikTok, could pose to national security, particularly regarding its ties to China through its Chinese parent company, ByteDance. The app clashes with U.S. security interests in two ways: First, since Chinese organizations are required to comply with intelligence gathering per the country’s national security laws, the Chinese government could use it to spy on American citizens. Second, the concern was raised that by manipulating its content, the Chinese government could also subtly influence the app’s 170 million American users to further its agenda. These accusations led to a bipartisan majority in Congress moving to enact a nation-wide TikTok ban to be implemented on Jan. 19, 2025. Despite the Supreme Court ruling on Jan. 17, 2025 that the ban does not violate the first amendment rights of TikTok or its users, the subject remains a hot topic for the American public.

On the rainy night of Jan. 17, 2024, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys' basketball takes on Grace Brethren High School (Grace Brethren) in a defensive 54-43 win. The top scorers of the game were two sophomores, Nick Drucker '26 (number 5) and Elijah Spencer '26 (number 42). Drucker had 16 points, three of which were 3-pointers. Spencer had 10 points, most of which were scored from the paint. On the defensive side, Luigirey Guce '25 (number 1) had multiple steals, leading to fast breaks that got the Dragons easy lay-ups. Although they scored only 21 points in the first half, Foothill Tech pushed past their slow start, ending the game with 22 points in the fourth quarter. Their next game is on Jan. 19, 2024, against Villanova Preparatory High School (Villanova).

The Horror In The Stacks event took place at the E.P. Foster Library. The second floor was covered with black paper restricting all light sources and converted into a haunted maze. With a total of six zones to go through, the maze also had craft stations at the end to bring some peace after going through it all.

On Oct. 5, 2023, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) hosted La Reina High School (La Reina) in the Tri-Valley league match. Before the start of every game, the girls' volleyball team runs through a tunnel built by students of Foothill Tech. The team was led by Kaili Garrett '24 and was acknowledged with high-fives from students.
