Junior Meghan Schuyler is a first-year journalist for the Foothill Dragon Press. She was born in Twentynine Palms, Calif. on a Navy base, but her family moved to the Ventura area soon after she was born. Meghan considers herself a literature enthusiast, and spends copious amounts of time (and money) at Barnes & Noble. She is excited to be part of the Arts & Entertainment section as she enjoys all aspects of the section, and already has some experience from reviewing books on goodreads. Meghan is the co-founder and secretary of Foothill’s Girl Up club, a United Nations campaign dedicated to helping underprivileged women and girls in developing countries. This year, she has also joined Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D), a club that raises awareness of substance abuse. Meghan is part of the new athletics program, and runs for Foothill’s cross country team, but is admittedly feeling rather apprehensive about it. When she is not running, Meghan volunteers by reading to elderly people suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s. She also writes poetry whenever she finds the time and has had three of her poems published. Meghan is not entirely certain what career she wants to pursue, but is drawn towards being an editor for a book publishing company or a writer.
