Over the last two years, social media has been flooded with media of blond pop star Taylor Swift and her fellow A-Lister, Kansas City Chiefs tight-end, Travis Kelce. Although the relationship between Swift and Kelce didn’t become public until later in 2023, in early July of that same year, Arrowhead Stadium — typically home to the Kansas City Chiefs — became a trading post for friendship bracelets and hosted the iconic Eras Tour for two nights, one of which Kelce attended. It was later revealed to the public that Kelce attempted to go down to Swift’s dressing room. Jokingly, he claimed that he “knew the elevator lady,” and though Kelce believed his plan would work, it was allegedly unsuccessful. A month later in August, Kelce revealed on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce that he planned to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it.
Their first date together was Sept. 24, 2023, when she attended his home game, and Swift quickly made a habit of attending Chiefs football games. Alas, her presence angered many fans who believed that she served as a distraction from the sport. On the other hand, Swifties claimed that the disapproval of football fans regarding Swift’s routine appearance contributed to old-fashioned gender roles and biases in the sports community.
However, this backlash did not stop Swift from showing her support for Kelce. She ended up attending a total of 22 Chiefs games by January of 2025 and was also present for most games in the 2023-24 season. According to Billboard, Kelce and Swift were seen holding hands after their appearance at the Saturday Night Live (SNL) season premiere on Oct. 14, 2023.
Swift has also attempted many times to win over the football community. One of these attempts was during an appearance at Super Bowl LVIII after performing in Tokyo the night prior. After her concert concluded at roughly 11:45 p.m., Swift flew from Tokyo and made her way to Las Vegas, which added up to around 13 hours of travel. Even after an incredibly long journey around the world, Swift attended not only the Super Bowl but also all of the post-game events the team had in celebration of their victory.
Four months after Super Bowl LVIII, Swift and Kelce had their first red carpet appearance together at a Tight End Anniversary event in Nashville on June 24, 2025. This event was co-founded by current and retired players of the National Football League (NFL): Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen. Swift even performed her hit song “Shake It Off” at the “Tight Ends and Friends” concert. On Aug. 13, 2025, Swift was featured on the “New Heights” podcast and announced her newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” and both of the Kelce brothers and her many fans were beyond ecstatic for this new addition to her discography. This had been her first media appearance with Kelce in over two months, leaving Swifties excited to see the couple interact.
Only 13 days later, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement through an Instagram post. The digital crowds went wild, and the overall buzz of the announcement left fans stunned, with some individuals even doing a deep dive into the ring Kelce proposed with.
After two years of drama, disapproval and relationship obstacles, Swift and Kelce emerged from the other end of the negativity. Staying true to their values and seemingly tuning out fervent disapproval from fans, the two household names are now on their way to their own perfect love story.
