Boys volleyball’s winning streak qualifies them for CIF playoffs

On the night of April 17, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball team hosted one of the their last home games against Laguna Blanca School (Laguna) to close out their regular season play. In honor of their seniors, they held a ceremony at the beginning of the night. Each senior, Tyler Nelsen '25 (number 8), Elijah Haigh '25 (number 15), Trent Kirby '25 (number 9), Jack Marshall '25 (number 5) and Jayden Wallace '25 (number 7), were given the opportunity to take a photo with family members and the Dragon mascot to celebrate their time playing for Foothill Tech. They ended the intense match with a 3-2 win and made it into post-season play or the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs.

As the spring sports season come to an end, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) teams aim to finish their season’s strong. For the boys volleyball team this hasn’t been a problem as they’ve won all of their last nine games. Included in these wins were league and tournament victories, which have pushed the team into the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoff pool. The Dragons celebrated two successful home-court wins on April 15 and 17, 2025, with the latter being their Senior Night.

Boys volleyball beats down on Laguna Blanca at annual Senior Night
On April. 15, 2025, Foothill Technology (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball faced off against Providence School. This was a very rapid match, as Foothill Tech secured all three sets in one swoop. In the image above, the team huddles together during a timeout, preparing for the following sets. Boys volleyball triumphs over Providence in a 3-0 sweep
In the evening of April 10, 2025, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) Dragons traveled to Carpinteria, Calif. to face off against the Cate School (Cate) Rams. After losing 1-3 the last time these two teams matched up, the Dragons were determined to win. After three intense sets, Foothill Tech swept Cate and emerged victorious, 3-0.

Following a narrow loss to Ventura High School, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball team was fired up and ready to face Dunn School (Dunn) on April 1, 2025. Through their teamwork and strong offense, they emerged victorious, 3-0. As his teammates watch from the bench, Elijah Haigh '25 (number 15) gets ready to serve the ball to the other side, to hopefully get yet another ace. Haigh's powerful swing came in handy not just for his serves, but also for his hitting, as he got many kills from the opposite hitting position.
Boys volleyball kills Dunn in commanding 3-0 victory
On the evening of March 21, 2025, Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball took on the Ventura High School (Ventura) volleyball team at Cabrillo Middle School. Despite a rocky start, ending in a Foothill Tech loss for the first set, the team came back strong, winning the second and third set. Despite this comeback, the Foothill Tech boys' team ultimately fell short, losing in the last two sets to Ventura. Foothill Tech performed well, displaying powerful hitting, skilled defensive plays and several well timed blocks. Foothill Tech falls short in five-set thriller against Ventura
On Feb. 25, 2025, Foothill Technology (Foothill Tech) boys volleyball faced off against Cate School (Cate). Taking place at Cabrillo Middle School, Foothill Tech's own terrain, the match began at 6 p.m. Unfortunately, this second home game of the season ended in a 3-1 loss. Foothill Tech secured the first set, yet fell to Cate in the last three. In the image above, the team gathers in a tight huddle during a timeout, strategizing for the following sets. Coach Dave Benedik urges the team to communicate more efficiently, as many lost points were attributed to a lack of communication on passes and set balls. The team listens intently, hoping to garner more points as they return to their positions on the court.

Romance through the decades of cinema: 1950s and 1960s
Two presentations were held in the courtyard of the adobe during the festival. Each demonstration featured information about local owl species, such as diet, anatomy, habitat and ways to protect them. At 11:30 a.m., the Ojai Raptor Center presented with real owl specimen. At 1:00 p.m., Ventura Katie Adams handled a live Eurasian eagle owl named Periwinkle.

In the past few weeks, the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys golf team has taken on various opponents in league matches. On April 3, 2025, the Dragons matched up against Villanova High School (Villinova) and secured a 209-241 victory, but on April 8, 2025, they fell short to Bisho Diego High School (Bishop Diego), 227-202.

On the warm sunny day of April 9, 2025 Foothill Technology high school's (Foothill Tech) Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted their annual Seniors Only Academic Rally (SOAR). Pictured here is ASB seniors Lauren Fossati '25, Rhea Gill '25, Jack Merritt '25, Jaden Abara '25 and Hailey Hall '25 dressed as characters from Nickelodeons Teenage mutant ninja turtles to fit the theme of Nickelodeon's Kids choice awards. Boys tennis triumphs against cross-town rivals
On the afternoon of March 20, 2025, the Ventura Aquatic Center became home to the Ventura County Swimming Championships. The event started on March 18, 2025, with the girls qualifiers, followed by the boys qualifiers on March 19, 2025. This annual event hosts over ten schools in the county every year, making the competition fierce. Seen above is Kylan Jaeger, holding the edge of his diving block in preparation for his heat to begin. Jaeger, along with many other Foothill Tech swimmers, performed well, earning various accolades throughout the meet.
