Boys’ golf

The 2023 season was a successful one for the Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) boys’ golf team, ending with a league play record of 5-2 and a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoff appearance.

Individually, star senior and Dragon Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Thomas Chadbourne ‘23 made a CIF run of his own to cap off his high school career.

The team, coached by beloved Foothill Tech math teacher Wayne Powers, performed consistently at a high level throughout the year. Nathan Leedy ‘24 stated, “We won a lot of our league matches and made it to CIF, so I’d say it was a pretty successful season as a team.”

However, Leedy cited the team’s off-the-course bond as one of the best parts of being a member of the squad. “It was pretty cool in the vans, I think it was a really good brotherhood there.”

A high point of the season was the team’s victory over Bishop Diego, which they won by a shockingly narrow five-stroke margin.
