After a long 2022-2023 school year, the Foothill Dragon Press celebrates the amazing athletes and students that have contributed to the sports program here at Foothill Technology (Foothill Tech).
Girls’ volleyball
The Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) girls’ varsity volleyball team faced a tumultuous year, the team going 3-19 overall and 1-9 in the league. The team’s three wins were against Nordhoff High School (Nordhoff), Grace Brethren School (Grace Brethren), and Knight High School (Knight), all of which were early on in the season. 2023 marked the second year of girls' beach volleyball's contumacy at Foothill Technology High School (Foothill Tech) and established the sport as an integral aspect of Foothill athletics. Track and Field had an overwhelmingly positive turnout, with athletes progressing to either the state or regional level and taking the lead on most events along with breaking many of the school's records. The boys’ tennis team, another program coming off of recent success with a CIF championship in 2021, was spearheaded by UC Santa Cruz commit Ben Wang. Girls’ Tennis has had an outstanding season with a stacked lineup of players. Boys soccer enjoyed the most success in a season since their CIF championship in 2020. They finished with an overall record of 9-7-1 but went 7-1 in league play to claim the first league championship in program history. The girls’ soccer program ripped off an impressive undefeated league campaign, at 6-0-3 and 8-2-3 overall. In the postseason, the girls ousted county rival Fillmore High School 2-1 in the first round of CIF, making them one of Foothill Tech’s programs to make it out of the first round. Boys’ basketball had an up-and-down season, the team finishing with an overall record of 13-15 and 5-3 in league play, many of the games lost by only a few mere points. The girls’ golf team experienced great success in their 2022 season, seeing three golfers make it to CIF. The first athlete who reached this level was Audrey Yoong ‘26 who made it to CIF Regionals.
