Foothill’s Speech and Debate team will be presenting the second annual Merry Fest on Wednesday, Dec. 14. A number of students will be performing along with coaches Anthony Villa and Jennifer Kindred.
Villa and Kindred will be acting out a scene from the 1950s “George Burns and Gracie Allen Show,” as well as a “Christmas Carol” radio spoof that they wrote themselves.
Last year, the team held three performances and raised $800.
“I was very satisfied with last year’s [performance],” Kindred said.
However, due to two tournaments on December 10 and December 17, there will only be one show this year. Despite this, the team is hoping to raise the $1,000 it needs to pay for bus transportation to the UC Berkeley tournament in February.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. in Spirito Hall and will last for about an hour and fifteen minutes. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for students and $7 for adults. Money made from selling refreshments will go towards the transportation fund.
