On Tuesday, the Foothill softball team beat Malibu High School at Ventura College 10-0. They now have an overall record of 16-7, and stand 8-3 in the Frontier League.
Freshman Jessica Mendoza was the winning pitcher and pitched a shutout, meaning she was the only pitcher during the entire game and never let the opposing team score a run.
Freshmen Jade Iannacone, Lily Harget, and Taylor Wreesman all had scoring records of 2-3. Iannacone and Harget each scored two runs and Wreesman had three runs batted in, meaning her at-bat resulted in a safe run.
Freshman Taylor Escobar had a double and freshman Ashley Larroude scored twice.
Coach Priscilla Rouse-Becker said the girls “jumped on [the other team] early and continued to score throughout the game.”
“The girls are coming together well. Today’s game will be a good test as we prepare for play-offs next week,” said Rouse-Becker. “We are in a good place.”
