Ah, hats. A cover-up for oily roots, a beach trip necessity and, of course, the neverending fashion trend that is always coming back. This year, bucket hats have been all the rage. Brands such as Stussy, FILA, Adidas and even Gucci hopped on the bucket hat train. These hats perfectly suit a fishing trip with your grandpa or can be a crucial component to your runway wardrobe.
The Fashion Spot discusses how “the hats were all over the Spring 2018 runways and even sneaked into some Fall 2018 presentations (like Prada and Lacoste).” If the models can rock it and your fish-loving grandpa can too, we can rock it. Will the bucket hat trend continue? We’ll see!
Hats trace all the way back to 3000 B.C.; men and women wore them for prestige and sophistication. In France, there is the beret, in America, there is the baseball cap, in Central Mexico, there is the sombrero and let’s not forget about the iconic bearskin hat worn by English soldiers. There is the floppy hat, the cheesehead hat and of course the fedora. There are hundreds of types of hats, and the hat you wear can be a reflection of where you are or where you want to be.
Now, don’t even get me started on the outrageous hats that celebrities wear. Lady Gaga has a sparkly lobster (yes, lobster) hat she wore to an after-show party in London. Pharrell Williams wears an iconic Vivienne Westwood hat on the regular, and I cannot bring up celebrities and hats without mentioning Audrey Hepburn’s classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s hat that stuns everyone. Classic? yes. Chic? absolutely!
Hats are here to stay. Here to stay trendy, fashionable, practical and just overall so much fun. So what type of hat are you sporting? Chic, casual or bucket?
