If you’re looking for modern spin on spy movies and a fun view for all, then “Kingsman the Secret Service” is perfect for you.

The movie opens with an intelligence mission, and one agent is killed trying to save his trainer Galahad. To repay the family of the deceased agent, Galahad goes to the family’s home and offers them help. The now single mother is so upset that she refuses the help, so Galahad leaves a medal with a number on it to the fallen agent’s son. Galahad tells him that if he is ever in trouble he should call the number and say “Oxfords, not brogues.”

It then fast forwards 17 years later, to a house in Argentina that an English professor is being held captive in. A Kingsman agent attempts to rescue him, but is killed by an unknown organization. Since a Kingsman agent has died, there is now an opening in the service, and it is up to the remaining Kingsman agents to recommend new candidates to fill the position.

All of the sudden, the movie transitions to the young boy of the fallen agent who is now an adult. He now lives in a rundown apartment with a new baby and his mom’s abusive husband. The son Eggsy (or Gary) has gone from a straight A student who planned on joining the military to a rabble-rouser with no purpose in life. One day he ends up in jail and uses his one phone call to contact Galahad.

When he gets through; it is a shop that answers. He explains his situation to the lady on the other line, but no one seems to be able to help him, and they threaten to hang up; that is until he remembers to say “Oxfords not brogues.” He is then mysteriously let out of jail and is reunited with the man he met as a little kid, Galahad.

They end up in a pub and Galahad explains that he use to work with his father, but he doesn’t tell him that his father was a spy. Some of Eggsy’s stepdad’s friends come in and start to give him a hard time, so Eggsy tells Galahad to leave. On his way out one of the men tries to start something with him. Galahad then proceeds to lock the front doors and fight with all of the men. When it’s all over Galahad goes to wipe Eggsy’s memory but Eggsy promises not to tell anyone what happened.

Much to his surprise, Eggsy then goes to the shop which he had contacted earlier that day and is informed that he has been chosen as Galahad’s new candidate to fill the vacant Kingsman’s spot. The rest of the movie shows Eggsy’s difficult training and trying to figure out who this other unknown organization is and how to take them down.

“Kingsman” is a great action movie, but it isn’t suitable for all ages. The movie is gory and there is quite a lot of cursing, but if you are of age I would definitely recommend seeing this film.
