Facts, Those are some. But…

Nothing is perfect, sadly.

But this isn’t an acceptable excuse to disregard the shortcomings of Lauren’s article. She did not cover a necessary point of view of, what I can assume, is a good portion of the FTHS population. Perfect journalism covers all sides of a story, letting all voices be heard.

However, it is unfair to chalk this up as ‘bias’ from the organization. Sure, breaking the news of the very existence of Fresh & Easy was one of our first major stories as a program, but we are by no means biased towards them. The fact of the matter is that Lauren’s random sampling of interviewees simply had positive opinions of the new store on the block (let’s call it the honeymoon period.) To say that students ‘were collectivized and generalized as in favor of the supermarket’ misses the point… of the missing point (oh English.) The article is still great, in my opinion. It covered the event well and gave a good taste of what the store is all about, the main point of the article. Lauren effectively covered this event in a timely manner.

Personally, I was disappointed with some aspects of the new store. The lack of a true ‘Deli’ crushed my heart and soul in ways no one will truly understand or sympathize with. Despite making 4 trips to the store today (which is pretty ridiculous in itself), I was most looking forward to quickly getting fresh sandwiches, pastas and salads from behind a shiny glass wall during my shortened lunch period (F.I.R.E. lol), as was shown on their official website and advertisements.

And if I had my way, F&E probably wouldn’t be there. An infinite combination of random other stores would take it’s place. But that’s another story for another day.
