On Thursday, the Foothill Tech softball team played at Malibu and beat Malibu High School 17-7.
Coach Priscilla Rouse-Becker may have called freshman Jessica Mendoza “the winning pitcher,” but she believes the whole team “worked together” and “stayed in the game […] from the first pitch to the last.”
Senior Monica Mendoza and freshman Taylor Wreesman both scored four runs, freshman Jade Iannacona had a two run home run, and freshman Ashley Larroude scored twice.
“This was the best all around game I have seen our athletes play,” said Rouse-Becker. “Every person in the lineup contributed.”
Razo, Iannacona, and freshmen Jessica Mendoza, Lily Harget, and Taylor Escobar all had at-bats that resulted in safe runs.
Each batter scored at least once.
The Dragons softball team now has a winning record of 8-4, and a Frontier League record of 4-1.
Coach Rouse-Becker believes her players “were all enjoying the game and each other” and said they “evaluated our game to a new level today.”
