[dropcap size=dropcap]T[/dropcap]he doors of the House of Blues opened around 7 pm and Watsky fans flooded  into the sold out concert. Although crowded due to the small size of the room, it had a very intimate feeling and gave off a cool yet cozy vibe.

An hour later, the crowd erupted into cheers as the openers took the stage. Anderson Paak  is a local contemporary R&B/hip hop artist from Oxnard, CA.  His opening act got the crowd pumped up and ready for the rest of the show.

Watsky and Anderson Paak had been performing together on songs, such as “Ink Don’t Bleed” and “Stand For Something” for the duration of the tour. Since this was the last North American stop on the tour, it was also Anderson Paak’s last show.

Starting their set with electronic dance music Super Duper Kyle and Super Duper Brick got the crowd going. Super Duper Kyle is an artist from our very own Ventura, Calif. who is promoting and performing his new album “Beautiful Loser”.

Besides Watsky, they definitely had the biggest reaction from the crowd. They performed synchronized dances and crowd surfed on a boogie board, while shooting confetti and water guns into the crowd. Due to their playful attitudes, the crowd was very into the performance.

Watsky finally graced the stage at 10 p.m. and the fans went into a frenzy. He opened the show with a song titled  “Bet Against Me” from his new album “All You Can Do”.

This was his last North American stop on the “All You Can Do” tour. Interestingly enough, this is also the town where he has lived for the past three year. Because of this he poured passion and emotion into his entire performance.

“I thought it was one of the best, most emotional, funny, and powerful concerts I’ve been to,” said senior Erik Bates.

George Watsky is a San Francisco native who has been creating alternative hip hop for five years. He began his career as a slam poet and even went on to become the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry champion.

In 2009 he released a 15 track album called “Watsky” and he has continued to release a new album each year.

Throughout his entire performance, Watsky interacted with the audience by taking breaks in between songs to recite poetry and converse with his fans.  He also crowd surfed a few times and held out the microphone so they could hold it for him.

Watsky ended the show by inviting his friends out on the stage, including the performers from earlier on in the show. The crowd wasn’t ready for it to end yet, so they called Watsky back to the stage, where he performed his song “Whoa Whoa Whoa”. Watsky, Super Duper Kyle, and Anderson Paak gave a performance to remember.
