The sun poured down on students as they tirelessly put their efforts towards creating chalk drawings for tomorrow evening’s Art Show.

The chalk drawings will be auctioned off to buyers tomorrow at the Art Show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the quad and everyone is invited to attend. All of the proceeds will go towards the art department.

Art teacher Justin Frazier feels that art is often “pushed into the corner” and does not receive the proper credit it deserves. However, with the chalk drawings spread across the quad’s pathway, they will not go unnoticed.

“This Art Show gives the students an opportunity to show off their art skills to family and friends,” Frazier said.

Ventura High School has done the art show themselves in the past, but Foothill has decided to take one on as well. Many students had brought the idea to Frazier and two years ago he decided to give it a try.

Art student junior Angela King is excited to create her chalk drawing and explained that hers is greatly influenced by African style art.

“I went to Africa in the fall, and I am just in love with African art so I decided to do an African style drawing,” King said.

Junior Hailey Winfield is working in a group to recreate “The Son of Man” by Magritte and hopes that her drawing will sell for “$8.256 million.”

“This is super fun, and everybody should definitely go to the art show,” Winfield said.

Sophomore Maddie Riddle is making a Spider-Man chalk drawing and is eager to see hers sell.

“Using the chalk is very fun, and I just hope they like it,” Riddle said.
