Every year, the quad is overwhelmed by a quarter of the student body in matching shirts: Senior Pride Day.

The event is organized by ASB, though this year students noticed a few significant differences. Senior shirts, which are normally handed out during Orientation in August, were passed out that day.

Seniors were released fifteen minutes early to take a picture, a particularly difficult feat given the weather.

“The senior panorama picture should have been better organized,” Melissa Carroll noted, as the ground some students had to sit on was damp and muddy.

Anna Geare also remarked on the dreary weather, saying she “was bummed that it was wet and rainy that day,” though she “definitely enjoyed the full-on lunch.”

“It was great to get a full burrito instead of half of one like we normally get at Renaissance rallies,” Carroll said.

Students wearing the orange-and-gray shirt were treated to a BRC burrito with their choice of meat, though special options were available for vegetarians, vegans, and the lactose-intolerant.

After the lunch, a volleyball net and two ping pong tables were set up in one half of the quad, which marked a departure from previous years where the entire quad was roped off for seniors only.

“I was told that the quad would be reserved for seniors only,” Carroll stated, noting her disappointment.

She wasn’t the only one left unsatisfied. Because the section reserved for seniors had only two tables to sit and eat, and because of the weather, most seniors found refuge outside the area. When ASB came around and handed out ice cream to those in senior shirts, they found their targets scattered all over campus.

“It was a traditional ASB failure and not particularly exciting,” a senior who wished to remain anonymous said. “It was okay.”

“It wasn’t as exciting as it seemed before, but I wouldn’t say it was boring,” Jocelyn Rodriguez said. “It was somewhat entertaining.”
