A “Thank You” from Meghan Trainor

A+Thank+You+from+Meghan+Trainor

Meghan Trainor, known for hits such as “All About that Bass” and “Dear Future Husband,” has made it back to the top of the charts with her new album “Thank You.” Released by Epic Records on May 13, 2016, each song seems to pay tribute to a different genre, providing a great variety and giving everyone a tune to enjoy.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Trainor stated that her album took a different direction than her original hit “Title.” “There’s a new hip-hop/urban sound, where I rap more… It’s definitely a Meghan Trainor album, but it’s a more grown up, matured, intense Meghan Trainor.”

Each song is very unique and different from the last. Her song “Me Too” has a K-Pop (Korean Pop) vibe, while her song “Watch Me Do” appears to be more hip hop. While some may not like the jumble of genres, I personally enjoyed the wide variety. It gives everyone a song to fall in love with, as well as introduce people to new sounds they may have never known they enjoyed.

About eight months before the album’s release, Trainor underwent surgery for hemorrhaged vocal chord. Based on the vocals in “Thank You,” it is clear she has recovered and has a stronger voice than ever.

Each song has a deeper meaning that everyone can relate to. Along with innocent songs about love, Trainor continues to spread self-positivity. In her music video for “Me Too,” fans noticed the editors had photoshopped her body so she appeared more slimming. Trainor instantly took the video down until the issue was fixed, continuing to spread her idea of loving who you are.

“Thank You” includes 15 tracks, and features other guest stars such as Yo Gotti, R. City and Kelli Trainor (her mother).

Meghan Trainor has won two Billboard Music Awards, three ASCAP Pop Music Awards and a Grammy Award for best New Artist. Her album and reputation continue to wow listeners and fans.

“Thank You,” while differing in genres, gives everyone a great song to enjoy. With strong vocals, meaningful lyrics and uplifting messages, everyone can appreciate Meghan Trainor and her new album.
