Suvee Ranasinghe is a junior at Foothill and a first-year journalist for the Arts and Entertainment section of the Foothill Dragon Press. Although Suvee is a new staffer this year, she is eager to write for A&E, more so for the fashion section. She is excited to share her passion for writing to the students at Foothill, as well as the outside community. She ultimately decided to join journalism because being in the presence of the press and seeing the awards add up over the years made her feel the urge to apply and be a part of the well-known and well-respected program. Although her name is unique, meaning “healthy warrior” in Sri Lanka, Suvee is one of a kind, even more unique than her name suggests. She is described as an aspiring youtuber, a passionate photographer, a fashion guru and a dedicated student. This year, Suvee is involved in all the honors and AP classes offered as a junior, is a part of Kiwins and is the vice president of the National Honors Society. Outside of school, Suvee does school; however, on those rare occasions when she isn’t buried under all the stress and homework that AP throws her way, Suvee enjoys uploading to her channel and letting her creativity run wild. Since she is a “shopaholic” and serious about style, Suvee prefers to post videos like clothing hauls, DIYs, outfits of the week and makeup tutorials. Suvee gets her fashion inspiration primarily from social media and seasons, and prefers to dress for herself, rather than impressing others. Suvee hopes to go to college after graduating from Foothill, but isn’t quite sure what she wants to major in yet or where she wants to attend; however, she is very interested in studying technology, marketing and filmmaking. Suvee does not conform to modern high school culture, but instead steps out onto the sidelines and creates her own path that is uniquely molded to her interests and passions.
